The Black Mamba featuring Suman Sridhar and Natasha Mendonca
Curated by: G5A
Presenting a Live Electronica Act featuring a sound that’s Afro/Indian, soul, urban and contemporary all at once.
Suman Sridhar & Natasha Mendonca perform The Black Mamba a 60-minute set featuring visuals, electronic beats, keyboards, and vocals. The Black Mamba transmutes poison into medicine through sound - Indian and Western classical, hip-hop, street jazz and afrobeat electronic rhythms against the backdrop of cascading vocal crescendos and counterpoint melodies. The result is a contemporary genre – Afro-Indian / Soul wherein the performance traditions of parody, devotion, and protest are inexorably fused. The Black Mamba album had a world preview at the Tate Modern Museum, London (2017), inaugurated the 20th Contemporary Arts Festival, VideoBrasil_Sesc, São Paulo (2017), the Kochi Muziris Biennale, India (2016) and headlined at the Ziro Music festival, India (2016). The Black Mamba has also played at local venues in India such as Blue Frog, Social, The Finch, Primal Bar, Humming Tree etc.
