Haroof: An Evening of Saaz-O-Mausiqui
Curated by: ALSO & G5A
In its second session of baithaks, Haroof presents Shibani Sur, an accomplished third generation musician from a family hailing from a small north Indian town called Gonda, near Lucknow, better know as poet Adam Gondvi’s hometown. She belongs to the Jaipur-Atrauli form of Hindustani gayaki with a strong influence of the Kirana gharana in her current expression. Trained in the traditional guru-shishya parampara, her musical leanings and inspiration comes from Begum Akhtar and Ustad Amir Khan.
In Haroof’s baithak revival series we seek the all-pervading power of music and words. Here, Shibani will add her oeuvre comprising Banaras ang thumri gayaki, rare ghazals in unique ragas, Sufi kalaam by Amir Khusrau and naat, a form of prayer without any instrumental accompaniment.
Experience divine musical expressions and an unlimited range of ragas with Shibani Sur for Haroof.
Passes available on BookMyShow.
