Karnatic Modern II: Manodharma

Manodharma, is a day-long music workshop with the brilliant Karnatic classical artiste and writer TM Krishna in three interactive sessions.


Session One: 10.30 to 13:00: TM Krishna explores the ideas, aesthetic approaches, and techniques related to creativity and improvisation in Karnatic music. He is accompanied by Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin, K Arun Prakash on mridangam and N Guruprasad on ghatam.


Session Two: 14.30 to 16.30: The Karnatic Classroom. TM Krishna and senior students Vignesh Eshwar and Rithvik Raja enact and experience a typical learning session to demonstrate the fine points of the classical Karnatic pedagogy.



Session Three: 17:00 to 18:30: Getting to know each other and beyond. A Dialogue with TM Krishna and Hindustani classical musicians, Ranjani Ramachandran, Priya Purushothaman and Samarth Nagarkar.

The Black Box

  • We request you to bring warm clothes as it gets chilly inside the Black Box as temperatures need to be controlled at optimum levels as per technical requirements
  • Food, beverages and water are strictly prohibited inside the Black Box. Please do not carry them in your bags either

  • No Late Entries will be allowed
  • Latecomers can only be allowed in at intermission or at an appropriate pause in the program and as per the instructions of the organizers
