CreativeMornings with Alankrita Shrivastava

Join us as writer/director Alankrita Shrivastava speaks on the theme of equality and how it relates to her own work. She made her directorial debut with Turning 30!!! and her recent film Lipstick Under My Burkha has won critical acclaim internationally. In her talk she will reflect on the journey of not only making it, but also the struggle of bringing it to Indian screens. The theme of Equality clearly resonates on a number of levels – as a woman filmmaker creating a movie about female sexuality in India, she faced a number of challenges. Her experiences and the film itself call many gender biases in Indian culture and censorship into question.

The talk will be followed by breakfast at PORT.
